Sea World San Antonio

Sea World! This was the highlight of the week and the last day before we started the drive home.

We were there an hour before it opened and still had to wait in line. Since we probably will not come again for a long time, we tried to make the most of our day.

Our first show was the silly seals.

After the show, we talked to the trainers about their jobs. You could see Maddie's mind contemplating the possibility of working at Sea World some day!

Good thing we wore swimsuits...we all got soaked!

Then we fed the seals!


The second show was the orca whales. We had great seats, the music was powerful, and I was overwhelmed by the moment. Tears! Isn't that ridiculous!? I was sitting by Maddie and she was in such awe that I couldn't help but cry!

The last show was an ocean version of Cirque de Soleil with divers, synchronized swimmers, dophins, and more. We smiled the whole time.

As we met the divers and swimmers, I knew that the girls' dreams were big!

We did a lot of walking at Sea World so we made sure to stop in the shade and try on hats!

And we got to feed the dolphins!!

We had to go on some rides...after we checked heights. Gus was too short and it was a huge bummer for him.

Elise loved the Shamu roller coaster.

Maddie and Eric went on the "Steel Eel" and they both left scared!

What a day!

San Antonio's Riverwalk

We have heard San Antonio's Riverwalk was a great experience and we now agree. The girls and I put on our new dresses and we walked the paths, rode a boat, and had a great meal. We love small town life of Los Alamos, but it feels so good to be somewhere with a vibe!

Down to the river...

Elise loved the boat ride, but after two days running on the beach, she completely fell asleep as the boat cruised!

Almost looks like we are alone on a date! :)

But Eric had lots of lovely ladies on this special night out on the town.

Eidenbenz in Texas

The Eidenbenz family traveled to Texas for Spring Break too. We met in the middle of the week at a great hotel in San Antonio for two days of relaxation together. Our kids were SO excited!

There was a lazy river and man-made beach where we stayed so kids and parents could float and hang out. Maddie and Tayra decided to give "rides" to the moms. No complaints with that!

Gus and Lyas did a lot of digging and getting wet.

Port Aransas

We spent a day in Port Aransas shopping for souvenirs, eating great fish at a local restaurant, and riding the ferry!

We Drove to the Ocean!

After two days in the car, we made it to the Gulf of Mexico and set up camp at Mustang Island State Park. Shells, sand, kites, fishing, bonfires, potato chips, pelicans, night swimming, huge sand castles, jellyfish, whole sand dollars, waves all night, and sunrise over the ocean.

Eric fished all day. Maddie went to town with him to get a pole and squid bait to catch ocean fish! They loved it.

Like Father, Like Daughter

We got out the chips and the birds attacked us! It was very funny as they kids tried to figure out how to get rid of them.

The kids and I played Duck, Duck, Gray Duck (that's what we called it in Minnesota when I was a kid).

Texas Road Trip

Texas Tech

We stopped in Lubbock, TX as we drove. You HAVE TO! It is a very, very, very boring to drive through West Texas so Lubbock is a magical oasis. We walked around the campus at Texas Tech.

The kids stopped and touched every flower. I love getting warm over spring break. It is such a time of hope for the things to come at home.
